As the world grows smaller, a cultural preservation is receiving international attention. In June 1992, Japan signed the World Heritage Convention established by the UNESCO.
After the Great East Japan Earthquakes and Tsunami occurred in March 2011, it was a joy for the people of Iwate that the cultural heritage of Hiraizumi was inscribed on the World Heritage List and became one of the landmarks of Iwate Prefecture in June of the same year!
In Hiraizumi, there are well-preserved temples and gardens which were created to depict the ideal world based on Buddhism as well as other influences from people around the world for hundreds of years.
We would like to welcome you to the Golden Land of Iwate featuring the World Heritage of Hiraizumi and other attractions! Please come to visit and experience the beauty and enrichment of the area.
